The guts, the glory, the monumental Opening Ceremony! The XXI Olympic games are starting today in Vancouver and for the next two weeks, we’ll all be cheering on athletes from across the globe (my DVR will be set to unabashedly follow Shaun White and his awesome red hair — aka The Flying Tomato).
A few weeks ago, the Olympic rings were lit for the first time floating in the harbor creating a beautiful view! They are almost 46- feet (or 14-meters) tall and sitting on a barge in the Burrard Inlet.
If you’re lucky enough to go to the Olympics this year, our Benefit gals in Vancouver have a few hot (err, cold) spots for you while you’re not watching bobsledding, figure skating, cross-country skiing, hockey, or my personal favorite, curling.
Best places to eat: Cactus Club, Earl’s, and Hapa Japanese Restaurant
Best dessert place: Scoop Frozen Yogurt on 4th Avenue
Best place to hang out: Vancouver Art Gallery, Scotiabank Theatre, and Robson Ice Skating Rink
Best place to meet athletes: Cruising Robson Street, Jogging in Stanley Park, and Shopping at the Olympic Store in The Bay downtown (gotta look the part, you know!)
Best place to celeb-spot: Lobby at the Opus Hotel
Best place to get pretty: Benefit Cosmetics counter & Brow Bar at Holt Renfrew!
Which sporting events are you excited for? Any of you going? If so, tell Shaun I say hi! ;)
