red carpet classics

I’m still seeing stars after last night’s Academy Awards show. Between the feathers, glitter, chiffon, tongue-in-cheek humor and NPH’s bedazzled tuxedo, it was FUN to watch Hollywood do what it does best: glam (and ham) it up.

Highlights included watching the first woman win an Oscar for Best Director just in time for International Women’s Day (which is today), and of course the dazzling new classic takes on red carpet style.

It’s no surprise that here at Benefit we are beauty obsessed and everyone’s been talking about the award-winning looks we loved from last night. Here’s a roundup of our favorite, most coveted, red-carpet trends with a Benefit twist…

pretty in pink

Pink Lips – The gorgeous pink-vinyl pout trend looked fabulous on both leading and supporting actresses alike, packing a special punch when worn with soft makeup and hair. To get the look, try silky finish lipstick in my treat. This versatile lipstick can be worn sheer for everyday or layered for more color payoff.

power pewter

Smokey Pewter Eyes- This silvery spin on a smoky eye looked especially glamorous when worn with a stunning silver gown. After last night, this “power pewter” color palette will now always be synonymous with winning big. Catch some eyes with the smokin’ eye palette  and top it off with velvet eyeshadow in where there’s smoke (smoky pewter).

sugary blush for a natural-looking flush

Natural-Looking Flush- Every actress must have received the memo to go for a soft, natural-looking blush. Light contouring and a delicate color made for the perfect, balanced, complexion that was a staple on the red carpet. This trend is easy to recreate with boxes of powder like dandelion and sugarbomb.
