HOW TO

s.w.a.k. (“sealed w/ a kiss”)

My must-have poolside accessory isn’t my favorite carry-all tote or even sunscreen for that matter (but it should be as this fair freckly skin does need it). Rather my ultimate accessory this summer is lipstick! I mean think about it, for practical reasons you can’t have a full face of foundation on and what’s the point of having a perfectly lined eye if it is just going to be covered up by your newly purchased aviators? Lipstick is the perfect way to look classic and coiffed as you lounge in your cabana.

To me there is no sexier look on a woman than a big bold red lip; it’s really become my calling in life to get everyone to rock it, but as they say variety is the spice of life, not to mention a sultry red lip only looks fitting poolside if you are channeling a 1940’s aquamusical. So if your suit is more feminine than pin-up, try one of these luscious lip looks:

Add some sweet to your siren-call by featuring a bright and flirty, candy-coated pink lip. First, apply your shade of boi-ing to neutralize the lips, this allows you to get the truest version of the lipstick shade. Allow the concealer to dry on your lips and then set with a tiny bit of “hello flawless!”.  Next comes color! My most favorite bright pink is pillow talk. The classic lipstick shape allows for the most precise application, I like to first line my lips with the tip of the bullet and then fill in the remaining. If you are in need of an even more electric shine, top off by adding a bit of dancing queen lipgloss.

Pink is the new red

If you are a little bit more daring and ready to take on the trend of the season try a coral pout. Apply the brand new chachatint liqui-gel formula to the lips then follow with the full-finish lipstick in slow zone. Use a hard angle brush and dip into your “hello flawless!” powder and line along the outside of your lips. This seals in the color and also cleans up any edges you may have gone overboard on.

Coral anything is the perfect summer accessory.

If you overindulged on neon in the 80′s and want to leave it as a distant memory try this amped-up plum. First, apply benetint to your lips (why this step? Well, even if you are enjoying too many mojitos poolside and you find your lipstick to have traveled to the straw don’t fret, photos will still be perf as the stain leaves lips with a sheer wash of color. Next, apply the full-finish lipstick in wanna? to your lips and follow with a dab of california kissin to the center of your bottom lip to create even more dimension.

my fav neon alternative

Regardless of the lipstick chosen you will definitely be mobile-upload ready, whether it be in Vegas/Cabo/Miami or the pool at your aparment complex!
