TIPS & TRICKS

day-to-date makeup in 5 steps

I was not raised in San Francisco; I was raised on a ranch in the middle of California where I played dress up outside in the middle of an alfalfa field.  I would apply lipstick to my teeth and sometimes to my lips while dreaming that one day my Prince Charming would ride up on his John Deere tractor and sweep me off my feet.  Then one day, I moved to San Francisco for college and my dreams expanded outside that alfalfa field.

then & now!

I am still fishing for my Prince Charming—but now it’s in a big sea instead of a little cow-town canal. As I start to balance my personal life and my “grown up” life as the Benefit receptionist (a.k.a. Director of First Impressions), I am slowly realizing there is not much free time. Once 5 o’clock rolls around I am left with just a few minutes to transform my “rock star POREfessional” look that I have been flaunting since 8 am, into an after-work “dream date.”

I know a thing or two about “first impressions”

Luckily, with the help of a few of my favorite Benefit products that I carry in my purse I am able to touch-up my makeup and become date-ready in less than ten minutes.

work DAY to play DATE

Step 1- BRIGHTEN To diffuse dark circles and “fake awake,” I apply eye bright to the inner and outer corners of my eyes, blending underneath the eye.

Step 2- HIGHLIGHT I  blend high brow glow onto three areas of my eyes to make them appear bigger and brighter: the brow bone, inner corner of the eye, and the outer corner of the eye.  It has the perfect amount of sexy shimmer.

Step 3- LINE  I apply BADgal liner waterproof to the upper lash line and the inner lid of my bottom lashes to make the shape of my eyes stand out.

Step 4- STAIN LIPS & CHEEKS I apply benetint to the apples of my cheeks to create a natural looking glow. Next I dab a little benetint on my lips for a natural rosy pout that doesn’t wipe away after a sip of water.

Step 5-SHINE I smooth on benetint lip balm to give my lips just the right amount of attention.

Top tip: red lips make your teeth appear whiter, perfect for flashing your pearly whites all night long. Another added bonus to wearing lip balm is that it’s not thick or sticky—perfect for a goodnight kiss!

A smile says it all :)

The final step to a perfect date look: a big smile! The best advice I have learned from working at Benefit is: “Laughter is the best cosmetic so grin and wear it!”
